Joseph’s story is one of quiet courage and sacrifice. After his sister passed away, he stepped up to care for his young nieces, determined to provide them a safe and stable home. But battling lung cancer – a result of years working in the coal mines – made it difficult to make ends meet, let alone build the home he dreamed of.
As his health declines, Joseph’s greatest worry has never been for himself – it has always been for his girls. Without a place to call their own, he feared what their future might hold.
They moved from rental to rental, sometimes evicted without warning. In their most recent living situation, the girls shared a single cement-block room while Joseph slept in a shack attached to the side. Still, he dreamed of something better. Using his pension, he bought a small plot of land, hoping that one day he could give his family the gift of a permanent, safe home.
That day has come – because of you.

“Now, finally, I have a home for my kids. Knowing that, putting [my] kids here, they will be safe. Because where I am staying right now I don’t feel safe, they don’t feel safe. So even if now I am going to be out, I know that my kids are going to be at home and they are going to be safe.” – Joseph
You have been the answer to this father’s prayer. You’ve given Joseph more than walls and a roof – you’ve given him the peace of knowing that, no matter what happens to him, his girls will always have a place to call home.
