The first half of 2024 was fresh, colorful, and exciting!

At one of Ten Thousand Homes’ partner programs in South Africa, a new year always brings a fresh zing and what the kids like to call ‘Term 1 Energy.’ Throughout the past 6 months, new faces were greeted at registration and veteran mamas, who have been serving “the tastiest stew in South Africa” (Kholi, 12 years old) for over a decade, came up with fresh ideas.

When attendance surged from 120 to over 200 children per day, the program leaders acted swiftly to ensure the children were well cared for. Young leaders among the program attendees were identified, and they eagerly stepped up to help with crowd control, behavior, dishing up the food, and registration.

Your partnership creates opportunities for local leaders (of all ages) across Africa to build confidence and implement their ideas and initiatives in response to the needs they see every day. It creates spaces for neighbors and children from all corners of a community to come and gather and laugh and eat and be excited together. It creates opportunities for questions, corrections, love, and discipline. Your contribution allows mamas to have a voice and hand in raising the children in their community to be responsible and to do their part.
