Impact Report: 2024 Q4

GOOD NEWS: Your generosity helped provide 52,535 meals in 2024!

The impact you made will continue for years to come.

The reality is that one in three people across Africa lives at or below the poverty line of $2.15 a day, which poses significant challenges to accessing basic necessities like proper nutrition. However, Africa is not standing by helplessly, and the world is not turning a blind eye to the need. We know hope is rising because of collaborative efforts with passionate local leaders and YOU!

In our quarter 3 nutrition report, we shared about the tension between the hard realities people face on this continent and the hope created by people, local and international, who want to see change and are taking action. And while the reality is that the difficulties our partners see in their communities are increasing, it has only fueled their passion for this important work.

As our partners wrapped up the year, there was color, music, dance, good food, good company, laughs all around, and excitement in the air – it’s the holidays! At the same time, they also felt the weight of a long and challenging year. The past quarter has been tough for many programs, with issues like drought, increased rates of crime, and the inflation of food prices. Yet, despite these challenges, there’s a deep gratitude for the miracles witnessed throughout the year and hope for what’s ahead in 2025.

Our partners are in it for the long run, and so are we.

This quarter, we saw a student progress to grade 10 despite health and family challenges that limited school attendance. With support from food parcels and regular well-being visits, her attendance and grades improved. While her family continues to seek employment, the relief provides hope.

Similarly, another family is living with their ill grandmother while the parents seek work. Regular visits and food parcels are bringing them relief and hope for a brighter future.

Though these circumstances may seem dire, our partners remain committed to making a long-term impact. Providing nutrition support has given our partners a doorway to providing these families with connection and relationship – embodying the ‘ubuntu’ spirit that goes far beyond money and resources. These families now have a supportive community where they can engage in honest conversations about both the miracles and stresses of their situations and find encouragement and accountability in the journey.

This is not a sprint. We collaborate with leaders who are in it for the marathon.

We strive for integrity in our reporting, sharing both the hard and hopeful realities captured in our local leaders’ quarterly reports. This is the truth: it’s hard, it’s hope. It’s both.

Just like our local partners, you are a part of this community that has seen the hard and refuses to sit idly by. Together, we will continue to build hope and change realities one plate of food at a time.

Thank you for your generosity.
