2019 End of Year Review

At Ten Thousand Homes we believe that it is important to celebrate well. To take time to have a party or a little dance to mark even the small victories. So today we invite you to celebrate with us, not only the last year, but the last 14 years.

There are times when you need to mark the moment. They just seem significant, and this year we believe it’s that. Success is never linear. It is full of highs and lows that lead to growth usually unseen to our own eye. This past August marked 14 years of Ten Thousand Homes. During this time, we have seen many ups and downs, loss and victory, grief and joy. We can look back and name, what you might call, the dreaming, forming, storming, and the norming phases. Each season packed full of those said highs and lows. Year 14 marks what we feel is the most significant season of the Ten Thousand Homes story. It was a season turning the page to a new chapter of empowerment, confidence, and success that you can’t explain on a spreadsheet. The kind of success that you hope for and are totally surprised when it happens.

To mark this season we decided to look back, not just at this past year, but to review the last 14 years and to share a few of the highlights.

These numbers have simply served as more fuel on the fire. We are more passionate today than the day we started. We still believe that together, people like you and I, can change the world.

By serving the most vulnerable of this world, by providing proper shelter, proper nourishment and health care, along with access to educational opportunities, we are literally building a brighter future.

14 years in, and we feel like we are just getting started. Tuesday, December 3rd was proof of this. In 2012, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving was coined “Giving Tuesday” in the wake of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. It was a simple idea to designate a day that encourages people to do good. To celebrate generosity. The last few years Ten Thousand Homes has participated and campaigned for our feeding programs. It’s a day that we’ve all come together to fight malnutrition! This past Giving Tuesday was our most successful to date! Nearly 100 generous donors gave $12,000 to buy 24,000 nutritious meals in 2020! This is amazing! It was truly a community effort! And we all know that it is going to take a village!
